LOUISIANA
Louisiana has enacted legislation that requires all police agencies that have not adopted a policy against racial profiling to collect data on all traffic stops. In addition, Causeway has adopted a policy requiring officers to collect data and New Orleans officers are voluntarily collecting data.

Scope of Collection: vehicle stops
Restrictions: Those jurisdictions with policy against profiling are exempt from data collection.
Data Collected: age, race, gender, number of passengers, reason for stop / alleged violation, warning given, citation given, arrest made, personal search conducted, search of vehicle conducted, type of search
Other Information: Requires all police agencies that have not adopted a policy against racial profiling to collect data on all traffic stops. At least 13 agencies have adopted a racial profiling policy. Certain agencies that have adopted a policy will also voluntarily collect data. The law enforcement agency shall submit the recorded information to the Department of Safety on a quarterly basis for analysis. The agency is to report this information to the governor and legislature annually.
