NEVADA
Nevada passed state legislation requiring data collection for all traffic stops by the Nevada Highway Patrol and all cities whose population is more that 100,000. There are nine jurisdictions participating in the data collection program through the legislation, and one jurisdiction is voluntarily collecting data.

Scope of Collection: vehicle stops
Restrictions: Only Highway Patrol and cities with populations of over 100,000
Data Collected: age, race, gender, ethnicity, number of passengers, reason for stop / alleged violation, warning given, citation given, arrest made, personal search conducted, type of search, items seized for forfeiture, authority for search
Other Information: Assembly Bill 500 defines and forbids racial profiling and mandates the collection of racial profiling data. Section 1 of Assembly Bill 500 prohibits racial profiling and forbids retaliatory or punitive actions against peace officers that disclose information about racial profiling. Section 2 of the Bill says that the Attorney General will conduct a study of traffic stops by the Nevada Highway patrol and all cities whose population is 100,000 or more. The Attorney General determines the manner and form of collection and transmittal of data for each stop.
